Can you use a US Military Passport to travel on a Cruise to the Western Caribbean?

A friend of mine said he used his military passport, but i’m afraid they wont except it.
i’ve heard that military id’s are excepted for military purposes only now. but can the actual passport be used?

In general you may only use your official passport on official duty. However since for a closed-loop cruise only prove of U.S. citizenship and ID is required and the official passport provides both they’ll accept it. Cruise ship passengers in general just need to show their boarding pass at the port of call, the immigration procedures are done based on the list of passengers and crew members which must be forwarded to the applicable port of call by the captain or the cruise ship company.
