A popular place to see locals construct altars (ofrendas) and honour the dead with sugar skulls is against the backdrop of the islands of Lake Patzcuaro. Alternatively, the picturesque city of Oaxaca, famous for its high quality crafts and diverse indigenous population, boasts some of the most impressive ofrendas.
One of Mexico’s hidden gems, the charming town of Campeche is famous for its characterful colonial architecture and pastel-coloured houses. The fortified town is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a significant cultural attraction, but visitors can also enjoy lively evenings of street food and salsa dancing on Campeche’s vibrant seafront.
The large coastal resort of Cancun is a firm favourite with sun-lovers and party animals, and some of the most glamorous and most impressive Mexico hotels can be found along its extensive sandy beaches. This renowned beachside resort is perfect for those holidaymakers looking for winter sun, water sports and great nightlife.
